Yantras
mean talismans or amulets - mystical diagrams and shapes, having mystic power to fight negative
energies and create positive energies. They can be used for propitiating planets or
worshipping Vedic Gods to achieve different desired goals. Using a yantra is an effective way to overcome difficulties and
enjoy prosperity, peace and happiness.
Yantras are geometrical figures and shapes, representing the basic energies of the
creation - the Vedic Gods and Goddesses. They are the visual forms of
energies. Mantras are the expression of the energies through
sounds, whereas yantras are expressions through shapes and
figures.
A yantra must have to be energized with a mantra so that it starts working. The yantra itself
is like
the body, while the mantra used is the soul.
So until and unless the yantra is energized or activated with the
particular mantra, it will do nothing. The mantra to energize a
yantra is called, 'Siddha mantra'. The Siddhi
mantra is what makes the yantra alive, so it starts working. There are specific mantras
and procedures to worship each yantra. Generally it is suggested
to energize a yantra in a holy day, such as Holi, Dewali etc.
A yantra is not as costly as primary gemstones but is very effective when used with
mantras in the proper way.
A yantra can be used in every field of our lives. Like - to acquire
wealth, to attain success in career, to attain marital harmony, to
overcome diseases, to fight enemies, to win a court case or even
for a self correction or to progress in spiritual practices. There
are yantras for Vashikaran (Infatuation), Stambhan (To stop the
enemy from creating further mischief), Uchchhatan (To make someone
loss intelligence), Videshan (To create fight between people) and
even Marana (Death infliction). Gods, Goddesses and planets all
have their own yantras through which they can be worshipped. The power of yantras has been
mentioned in many Vedic texts. Lord Shiva tells Goddess Parvati that
a yantra is essential to the Gods as like the oil is essential for the oil
lamps.

Yantras may be either two dimensional or three dimensional. A two
dimensional yantra is drawn on paper, or embedded in metals etc. A
three dimensional yantra is a three dimensional shape, often kept
in a particular place or in the corner in a home or office, to bring
peace, happiness and achieve success .
Two dimensional yantras can be either geometric or numeric.
Geometric yantras are made of geometric elements, such as dots,
lines, circles, crosses, triangles etc. Each of them has a
symbolic value that at last makes up the total form of the yantra.
They are combined in to complex shapes and figures to address
particular divine forces and energies. On the other hand numeric
yantras are specific combinations of numbers to address the deity
related, and attain the goal.

Writing a yantra
Yantras can be embedded on metals etc., or can be written on papers or
bhuj patras. A certain
procedure should be followed while writing a yantra. First - the 'Muhurta' or time to
write the yantra has a very important
signification. Certain planetary Hora(s) are used for certain
purposes. Also, the time of the day is important. Such as, yantras
for self improving purposes are written in the early morning. The person
should also be facing certain direction and use certain materials.
There are many materials for
writing yantras. Most common material is Ashat Gandh
which may include the eight materials of any of the following
groups -

These items are available in shops selling puja items. The powder
prepared by this should be mixed with holy water or rose water,
scents might also be used.
Pens are made from bird feathers, or branches of trees, say
jasmine wood etc., according to the type of yantra is being
written.
Some elements of a geometric yantra
Dots
-
It is the most basic element of a yantra. Any shape or
size can be taken as created by innumerable dots. Dots can
represent Shiva and Shakti. A white dot is Shiva, while a red one is
Shakti.
Lines
- A line can be perceived as a dot moving without
any obstruction. So it indicated development. Or lines can also be
perceived as joining two dots.
Circles - The circles represents rhythms, returns and cycles
of energies. In all yantras a circle shows the relation of the other
forms to the central point of the yantra.
Triangles - Triangles can be either Masculine (upward
pointed) or Feminine (downward pointed). The masculine one
represents rising energies, fires etc. The feminine one suggests
the element of water, which is always falling downwards to
equalize the level. It is the energy of femininity, force of
inertia etc.
There are other
important elements as Tetragons, Hexagons, Star Hexagons etc.,
each of them represents a separate type of energy. More about them
will be added on the next update of this page.
Commonly used yantras
Shri Yantra - The Shri Yantra is considered to be the most
powerful of all the yantras. It is used for general purposes, such
as fulfillment of goals, acquiring of wealth, removing
obstructions and for overall happiness.
Maha Mrityunjaya Yantra - It saves one from accidents,
dangers etc. It also saves one from health troubles, diseases and
blesses with good health.
Baglamukhi Yantra -
It is very popular since it is good for
any kind of competitions, battles etc. It helps one win defeat
enemies and competitors in battles, wars, court cases etc. Old day
kings used to wear this yantra a lot and it was also common for
kings to employ spies to steal this yantra from opponent kings!
Lakshmi Yantra - It is very effective to bless the devotee
with wealth and prosperity. All worries and problems are solved
very very easily. It is also good for unexpected gains and lottery
winnings.
Saraswati Yantra - Very much effective for acquiring
knowledge, intellect, wisdom etc. It also helps one show brilliant
performance in formal examinations.
Ganesha Yantra - It removes obstacles from the way of
success. Also helps fulfill the wishes of the user and blesses
with wealth.
Nava Graha Yantra - One yantra can be made to address all
the planets or for each planet a separate yantra can be obtained,
say Surya Yantra for Sun, Chandra Yantra for Moon, Mangal Yantra
for Mars etc. They help achieve the blessings of the planets
related.
It is almost impossible to list all the yantras and their efficacies.
Basically, a yantra of a specific deity helps achieve the
blessings of him or her. Such as, Kubera Yantra is used for
financial purposes, since Lord Kubera blesses his devotees with abundant
wealth. There are websites and vendors offering yantras. All you
have to make sure that you get it from an honest vendor and follow
the correct way to use it to achieve your goal.
